Consolidation of innovative brake know-how
The two Swabian brake manufacturers Brake Force One (BFO, Tübingen) and MAGURA (Bad Urach), both based in the German state of Baden-Württemberg, have agreed to build a close cooperation in the future.
Both companies develop and manufacture hydraulic bike brakes. Each partner company possesses strengths that will benefit each other. In the current highly competitive market situation and, at the same time, many new market opportunities, both partner companies consider the timing of the cooperation more than appropriate.
MAGURA with its own international production facilities provides the highest manufacturing quality locally, complemented by the 90 years of experience in the development and manufacturing of innovative hydraulic systems in the motorbike and bike industries as demonstrated in the recently announced fully electronic Vyron seatpost.
BFO with its small, but innovative team delivers novel approaches in the development of new products. Products such as the H2O brake and its world first ABS System shown at the this years Eurobike have proven this several times already.
The regional vicinity of approximately 30 km and the common Swabian culture will further ease the cooperation and accelerate the implementation of new projects.
“We aim to pool our resources and establish synergies to further set a course on the market successfully and to deliver innovative high-quality solutions to our customers,” states Frank Stollenmaier, CEO of BFO.
And Ralph Berndt, MAGURA’s CEO adds: “In the future, we want to emphasize the development of innovative products. We will take the next step with Swabian manufacturing competence.”
For more than 120 years, MAGURA with its core competencies hydraulics, mechatronics, and plastics stands for technical innovations with the highest possible safety and exemplary high quality. Approximately 550 employees in Europe, Asia, and the United States of America develop, manufacture, and market high-tech parts for two-wheelers—bicycles, mountain bikes, e-bikes, and motorcycles— that guarantee an enormous longevity, the highest possible safety standards, and plenty of fun driving experience. In addition to development and manufacturing, MAGURA provides Europe-wide logistics and repair services for its own products and as a system partner for external clients. As a family company that is now in its fourth generation, MAGURA sees it as part of its responsibility to drive forward the new mobility trends with its own know-how.
